"Here It Goes Again" is a vocal by American rock ring OK Go, the 5th single released from their second studio album, Oh No (2005). Information technology was the band's only single to nautical chart on the United states Billboard Hot 100 until "I Won't Let You Downwards" in November 2014 and peaked at number 36 on the UK Singles Chart, giving the ring their 2nd Great britain top-xl striking. The music video, featuring the band dancing on treadmills, became a staple on YouTube, at one time being ane of their nearly watched videos with over 53 one thousand thousand views.

The single'south B-side, "The Lovecats", is a cover of the vocal by the Cure and was previously included on the band'southward Do What Y'all Want EP and the single "A Million Means". An alternating version was nicknamed "U.k. Surf".

Composition and recording [edit]

Written by Damian Kulash Jr., the three-minute "Hither It Goes Again" is set in common fourth dimension at a "Moderately fast rock" tempo of 144 beats per minute. It is composed in the key of C major, with the song range spanning from C4 to Aiv.[1] Kulash also sang and played the guitar in the original mix, which was produced by Tore Johansson with co-production done by Eric Drew Feldman, Howard Willing and Ken Sluiter. Andy Duncan was some other guitarist on the track. Other instruments on the recording include drums performed by Dan Konopka and bass by Tim Nordwind. David Carlsson and Petter Lindgård were the song's engineers, with Jens Lindgård beingness the engineering science assistant. Recorded at Gula Studion in Malmö, Sweden, it was mixed at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles by Dave Sardy, and finally mastered by Robert Vosgien at Capitol Mastering, as well in Los Angeles.[2]

On the American Billboard Hot 100 chart, issue dated September 16, 2006, "Here It Goes Over again" debuted at number 87,[iii] and by the side by side week it rose to its peak into the top forty at 38.[4] The track lasted a full of 20 weeks.[5] Additionally, it reached into the top 40 onto the Pop 100 at number 34,[6] likewise as number 17 on the Adult Peak 40[seven] and Alternative Songs charts.[viii] "Hither It Goes Once again" was also a Top 40 hitting in other countries. On the UK Singles Chart, it debuted at number 36,[ix] while on the Official New Zealand Music Nautical chart its summit position was 28.[10] In Australia, the song began at number 67 on the ARIA top 100 singles chart, and rose to 63 the adjacent week and also topped the Hitseekers chart, which surveys tracks by bands that have not reached into the peak 50 of the main nautical chart.[xi]

Music video [edit]

The music video of the song is an elaborate performance of the band dancing on 8 treadmills, bundled in two rows of iv and in alternating opposite directions, in a single continuous take. Choreographed and co-directed by the ring and atomic number 82 singer Damian Kulash's sister Trish Sie, information technology took a full of seventeen attempts to consummate the video.[12] Equally in the band'due south video for "A One thousand thousand Ways", Tim Nordwind lip-syncs the lead vocals instead of Damian Kulash, following the format from the dance choreographed for the vocal "C-C-C-Cinnamon Lips", which Tim sings. The music video won the 2007 Grammy Award for All-time Brusque Form Music Video and the 2006 YouTube awards for Most Creative Video.

In "The Must List" on the August 18, 2006, issue of Entertainment Weekly, the video was ranked number nine: "The votes have been tallied, and this year'south laurels for Best Apply of Treadmills in an Alt-Popular Music Video goes to... http://okgo.cyberspace/news.aspx".[13] In July 2011, the music video was named one of "The 30 All-TIME Best Music Videos" by Fourth dimension Magazine.[xiv]

UK Surf Mix [edit]

During the summer of 2006, the band recorded a slower version of "Hither Information technology Goes Again" "in their cranium".[fifteen] This version, dubbed "UK Surf" or the "Uk Surf Mix", was released on iTunes in the UK the same day as the single. Later being featured in the January 2007 Gray's Beefcake episode "Great Expectations", information technology was released in the US through iTunes on Feb i, 2007, as a digital download.

Co-ordinate to MTV Games's Paul McGooyer, the video game Rock Ring helped to spur further interest in the ring.[24] The E3 2016 trailer for Lego Dimensions features the song.[25] Parodies of the video have appeared on The Simpsons, The Fairly OddParents, Foster'southward Home for Imaginary Friends, and Kuu Kuu Harajuku (created past Gwen Stefani).[26]
